Traffic & DWI
Help with DWI charges, speeding tickets and other driving-related matters in North Carolina.
A traffic citation can raise questions about more than the amount printed on a ticket. Your court case, driving record, insurance and ability to get to work may all need attention. The Law Offices of Wunsch and Cruz represents people facing traffic and impaired-driving matters. Contact the firm to discuss your citation before deciding how to respond.
Find the right help for your charge

Understand what paying a ticket means
Some traffic offenses can be resolved by paying rather than appearing in court. That is not simply an administrative payment: waiving an eligible offense is treated as being found guilty or responsible as charged, including applicable license and insurance effects. Not every charge is waivable.
Before choosing an option, ask what it means for your particular record. A first citation, a commercial license and several pending matters can raise different questions. There is no single response that is best for every driver.
Review the court and license issues together
The court addresses the charge; the DMV can take action affecting a license. A court date, a license notice and an insurance concern are related, but they are not interchangeable. Bring paperwork from each so your attorney can see the full situation.
If you have a suspended or revoked license, ask about its status before driving. Limited driving privileges depend on eligibility and restrictions, not simply on needing transportation.
Make the first conversation useful
Have your citation, case number, county and next court date ready. Include any DMV notices, information about earlier tickets and the state that issued your license. Tell the firm if a hearing has already been missed or another charge is pending.
An attorney can review the evidence and available options, discuss representation and explain attendance requirements. Do not assume that hiring counsel automatically excuses you from court.
