The size of a law firm does not tell you everything about the service it will provide. When deciding whom to hire, focus on your case and the way the attorney will work with you.

1. Personal attention

Ask who will handle the matter and how the attorney will learn about your goals and concerns. A useful conversation should address the particular issues in your case rather than give the same answer to every prospective client.

2. Experience in the relevant courts

An attorney familiar with the courts involved can explain local procedures and practical steps. Ask about experience with your type of matter, not only the office’s location. Familiarity is not a promise about how a judge will rule.

3. A clear discussion of fees

Talk about the proposed fee arrangement, billing practices and costs before deciding. Do not assume that a smaller or larger office will necessarily be cheaper; the scope of the work matters.

4. Communication that works for you

Find out how updates will be shared, whom to contact with questions and how the office handles an attorney’s absence. Clear expectations can make a stressful process easier to follow.

Meet our team or contact the firm to discuss whether the practice is a fit for your needs.
